Top Ten Things To Do Before You Graduate

by blogemu

Being a college senior is an odd feeling. It means that this is your final chance to do things while still in undergrad. From my past 3 years at EMU, I have done many things – from going to a football game to exploring Depot Town. But there are still things that I want to do, such as attending Homecoming and going to an EMU volleyball game. Below is my list of top ten things you should do before you graduate from Eastern.

.

1) Attend a Wellness Woof Wednesday

.Wellness Woof is a program hosted by the Rec/IM in which therapy dogs are brought in so that students can pet these dogs and destress. Wellness Woof is hosted once a month and is great for the midweek stress.

.

2) Go to a class at the Rec/IM

If you need a workout buddy but can’t seem to find one, classes at the Rec are a great way to get your workout in for the day/week. From cardio classes to spin classes, the Rec has something that is sure to be of interest.

.
3) Go to the Block Party for Homecoming

.
Homecoming week is full of a lot of fantastic events, but the Block Party is one of the best. There are different vendors from all over the Ypsilanti area who come to give away swag and some even have raffles. Gather up some friends and be sure to put the Block Party on your list.

.
4) Go to Sweetwaters Coffee Shop

.
Sweetwaters is located just by the Ypsilanti water tower and has a large variety of drinks to choose from. Bring some homework or a friend and grab a drink.

.
5) Get Insomnia Cookies

.
Located by the Ypsilanti Water Tower, Insomnia Cookies offers warm freshly baked cookies until 3am. This is perfect for a late night study session before finals.

.
6) Explore Depot Town

.
Depot Town is located right by the College of Business and has some great little shops. From a cute coffee shop called B24’s to a novelty store known as The Rocket, Depot Town has something for everyone.

.

7) Attend a First Friday in Depot Town

.
First Fridays take place the first Friday of every month https://www.firstfridaysypsi.com/. Shops in Depot Town hold special sales and are a way to get to know the city of Ypsilanti better.

.

8) Go to a football game

.
One of the best ways to connect with your fellow Eagles is by going to cheer on our football team at Rynearson Stadium. Some of my best memories are from EMU Football games.

.

9) Join a student organization

.
One of my best choices in my years here has been joining a Student Organization. I am part of Ballroom and Swing. Student organizations allow for you to connect with other students who have similar interests or hobbies as you.

.
10) Go to a Friday night movie

.
One of the great services that Eastern offers to its students is the opportunity to see free movies in the Student Center. These movies are usually ones that were shown in theaters over the past year, and some of them are throwbacks. From seeing a movie that you loved again to seeing a new favorite, Friday night movies allow you to attend the movies without the scary pricing.

.

Overall, my time here at Eastern Michigan University has been pretty amazing. From going to football games and attending Friday night movies with friends, to finding a student organization to connect with, Eastern has allowed me to find and explore who I am. This list is not extensive, so feel free to find your own things to do and your own people to connect with! Happy exploring!
