It is advantageous to take a summer vacation after a long school year. As long as you are enjoying the break, it does not matter whether you travel home or enjoy the sun and the variety of summer activities around EMU.

The summer holiday has many values. For some, it is a chance to visit family and friends, travel around the world and even work extra hours. If you are staying in Ypsilanti, you would notice that with many students being away for the holiday, EMU sure looks quieter than usual. But there are a lot of fun activities to keep you busy the whole summer.

If you love movies, then you are in for a treat because the Student Center has a summer movie marathon every Tuesday night starting at 6 p.m. There are several entertaining activities in Ypsilanti and nearby cities such as Ann Arbor. These activities include the Ypsilanti Summer Festival (July 27-28), and the Ann Arbor Summer Festival, especially on July 4. You can also be more adventures by skydiving or traveling to one of the world’s best amusement parks: Cedar Point.

Ypsilanti has many wonderful restaurants with great decks and balconies for you to enjoy the cool summer breeze. If you like to cook, then you can buy all the goods from local producers at the Farmer’s Market which is walking distance from the main campus.

Whatever you do and wherever you go, it is important to enjoy your time with those around you, so that when September comes, you will feel refreshed for a new semester. Have a safe and happy Summer Break.
